Created in order to build on the achievements of the Links into Languages programme at the end of its period of DfE funding, Network for Languages is an independent alliance of universities with outstanding reputations for their work in language learning. We are committed to:
Excellence in language learning and teaching from school through university and into the workplaceBuilding on the achievements of Links into Languages in championing language teaching and teachers, delivering resources and creating networking opportunities for language professionals.
We are regionally based and work through established links with schools, colleges and businesses in our areas, collaborating across the country through a network of regional centres to achieve nationwide provision. Network for Languages continues to be supportive of the importance of languages in schools and in lifelong learning, and we will:
Maintain and develop relevant and innovative continuous professional development programmes for language teachersSupport language teachers and other language professionals within the changing policy landscapeDisseminate good practice and research around language learning and teachingExplore opportunities for collaboration Inform and influence policy in order to put the benefits of language learning at the forefront of the agenda.
Our approach is to collaborate actively with other associations and stakeholders such as the Local Authorities, the Association for Language Learning, and Routes into Languages. You can read more about the organisations we work with in our partners and resources area.
Language professionals and teachers have asked us to ensure an orderly transition from Links into Languages to the Network for Languages.
Founder members will communicate with partners, professionals and teachers over the next few weeks to give more detail on the latest and rapidly-changing picture.
Network for Languages has been founded by a group of professionals who are passionate about language learning. We have a series of national and regional Ambassadors who act to promote our aims and objectives. Our Ambassadors are:
